When I try to create a new PyDev project which has a different location than the default (and Use default is unchecked), the dialog refuses with the reason: "Default location error".
Logged In: YES
Ok, after checking it, it gives that error if the directory you specify after unchecking the default location is still under the workspace.
E.g.: If your workspace is Y: and you uncheck it and still try to create it under a directory Y: it will give that error...
I actually got that code from the default new project wizard... I'll try to discover why that restriction is enabled (and at least give a better error message when that happens) -- it also happens in Java, new plug-in project, etc, although the messages change:
- y:\making_test overlaps the location of another project: 'making_test' (even when there's no real overlap)
- Projects located in the workspace folder must be direct sub folders of the workspace folder
That one seems more appropriate, although as I said, I don't know why is that actually restricted. Just uncommented that restriction and things seem to work as they should -- so, I'm closing that bug -- fixed for 1.4.0, so, please check that when the new release comes out and report if anything goes wrong (in some basic tests here, all worked as it should).
