This is a dependency issue with aptana. Please uninstall pydev and also remove any aptana plugin you may have and then reinstall pydev and during the update process uncheck the option to search for updates in all the update sites (i.e.: get things only from pydev, not additional updates from other places).

PyDev is a great eclipse plugin! I really get a lot of mileage from it. But please update the installation instructions here: http://pydev.org/manual_101_install.html to indicate that the radio-button "Contact all update sites..." should NOT be checked. Although this was reported last year, I did not initially have this issue when I installed PyDev this year sometime in May, 2012. It was not until I installed the Web Platform Tools (WPT) today (6/21/2012) and added "http://download.aptana.com/studio3/plugin/install" to the available software sites that I had this issue. Note: I did not actually install the aptana/studio3/plugin, I only added the url, as I was considering it, and then opted for WPT instead. Unchecking the updates box was the only solution. I removed both the aptana/studio3/plugin/install url and removed WPT, but neither would remove this issue - which seems to be related to the aptana/studio3/plugin. Anyway, if this is an issue for any others, a resolution would be greatly appreciated! Great work!
