As of now, we have engrave only for 2d "outline-only" stuff coming from Inkscape. This works incredibly well when I use the produced G-code for the laser cutter. I wish however, that I could also use this for sheet-goods in the CNC mill. I would say the typical situation would be a 2d cut on 3/4" thick MDF. Really, the engrave simply needs a per-pass step-down variable and that's really it. I suppose you may run into issues with the bit offset (I.e. cut inside the line vs. cut outside the line) but I suppose you could input that somewhere in the GUI. --"Layers" maybe? I dunno, as of now, if I want to run something through PyCam and then run it through the mill, it seems I am stuck with SketchUp. --And man, I REALLY prefer Inkscape to Sketchup.
