Hello all,
I have used Free Cad for some simple piece, a plate with a square hole . I open the file in Pycam but in the viewer panel I only can see the plate . The hole is missing.
How can I upload the file?
It does not count which stl file you are using, pycam will show spurious moves after the toolpath is computed.
I have tried different files, and each time there are spurious moves.
I have tried to remove those moves by hand, by editing the gcode file.
But obviously is not the right procedure for production purposes.

the file looks fine to me, too.
It looks like an OpenGL visualization problem.
Maybe an upgrade to Ubuntu 12.04 could really help. Please report back with your results.
cheers,
Lars

I am sorry to hear that the upgrade did not help.
But sadly this is an OpenGL issue and I am not sure if there is someone around here with this specific knowledge.
Anyway: please tell us the model of your graphic card. You can also add the version of your driver (only if you use a proprietary driver). This may be useful for other visitors in the future.
cheers,
Lars

When I update to ubuntu 12 I had problems with FreeCAD a message said: This system do not support OPEN GL. The solution was in Configuration System--- Aditional controler ---activate 3D accelerator driver for Nvidia 173 version. Butt this not work for Pycam.
My graphic card is Nvidia Geforce 5500

"Nouveau" is the (quite young) open-source driver for nvidia cards. Maybe its current state is already sufficient for your needs.
Sorry - but I can't help you with this topic any further. I know what a hassle proprietary drivers with inproper packaging can cause. But I do not use nvidia cards - so I can't tell how you could debug the issue or how you could revert your system back to the Nouveau driver.
Good luck!
Lars

Hi,
Which freecad and pycam version do you use ?
I have more complex stl file with holes that does not have the problem.

Gilles
Hi Giles,
I use this;
PyCAM 0.5.1
OS: Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS
Platform: 32-bit
Version: 0.13.1462 (Git)
Branch: master
Hash: 25c0afbb80d33d89ca38317eccd5f2c7ce328e9b
Python version: 2.6.5
Qt version: 4.6.2
Coin version: 3.1.2
SoQt version: 1.4.2a
OCC version: 6.3.0
Regards.
I have the same version but on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit.
It sounds strange. Could you upload your freecad project so I could test on my side ?
Regards,
Gilles

Hi Gies ,
How can I upload the file ?. I am very new in this forum
Regards.
Here you cannot upload file.
You have to upload it on an external website like http://en.packupload.com/
And add the link here.
Regards,
Gilles
Hello GIlles,

It sounds very strange.
I do not really know how I could help you.
I could generate your gcode if you wish.

Gilles

Hi,
I upgrade to Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS \n \l
I have installed too python-gtkglext1 but a error message appear when I open the program:
Failed to initialize the interactive 3D model view.
Please install 'python-gtkglext1' to enable it.
What can I do?
Regards.
Hi,
Now I can open again the files, but not correctly.
I am in the same point with precise pangolin than with lucid lynx.

You could try installing "gtkglext-devel".
Hi,
this sounds like you are using the proprietary Nvidia driver instead of Nouveau. Thus I don't dare to comment any issues here.
Anyway: thanks for providing the details of your setup!
@nobody:
Probably this will not help, as - according to the screenshots - all requirements are installed. There is just a bug hidden somewhere …
cheers,
Lars
Hi
@nobody
I have installed:
Libghc- gtkglext-dev 0.12.1-1
Libghc-gtkglext-dev 1.6
But nothing new.
Lars
Pycan was the same problem before activate the Envidia drivers. "Nouveau" is a driver? I can not see in additional controlers.
