    Hi,

    I'm trying to get this

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IR2G7HFW (image)
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=27MWF7EN (.stl)

    out of a 30mm thick MDF …
I did the modeling in sketchup and exported to stl.
Using the default 'Remove Material' process of PyCam generates a toolpath that removes the hole piece of mdf :(

If I missed to explain something pls. let me know!

    Many thanks in advance!!!!!

    Jörg

    Hi Jörg,

    thanks for your feedback!

Do you use the current development version (via svn) of PyCAM? In this case you should make sure that you select your model in the "task" tab. Otherwise you will see just the toolpath as if there was no collision model.

I just tried your model here with PyCAM v0.5.1 and the result looks good to me.
Please send me a screenshot, if you used this version, as well.

    cheers,

    Hi Jörg,

I received your screenshot via mail.

I think, your setting for "safety height" is still at its default value (=5), or?
Since your model is partly above this safety height, the toolpath goes trough the model. Just set the safety height to a value of 35 (in your case) and it should be fine.

For the next release I will add some kind of warning that goes to the log, if this situation is encountered …

    cheers,
    Lars

    Hi Lars,

    sorry for that!
With the 'safety height' set to 35 I got further but PyCam now removes the MDF completely on every second pass …

    I've sent u another screenshot!

    Again, sorry!!!

    Solved!

I had the 'Experimental ODE calculations' enabled …

It calculated the path incorrectly (as warned in the tooltip )

    Disabling this setting made it!

    Works like a charm ;)

Lars, thanks for Your great work!

    Kind regards,
    Jörg
