I've just finished my plasma cutting table. I've used pycam with my 3d mill/router and I'd like to adapt pycam for plasma cutting now. What I'm concerned about is when to trigger the torch on/off (M3/M5) once the cutter has reached X and Y and has touched down on Z.

    Thanks,

-D:  I would suggest a "lead in" move for torch M3; then X and or Y to the desired cut line. This requires the part to have its beginning point sufficiently located for a suitable "lead in".  IE: straight cut X or Y with an angular < 30 degree "lead in".  When you get accomplished with this you can try a radius "lead in" move to reduce waste.  Adjust for "kerf" and tool path, etc… Keep in mind: your desired part to be negative or positive and where the "lead in" should be.
