In the last week, we've had an interesting conversation about alternatives to Pyblosxom on pyblosxom-devel. It's worth talking more about those. You can see the archives at http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_name=pyblosxom-devel . However, no one mentioned wanting to pick up maintenance of Pyblosxom and no one expressed interest in continuing the project. Given that, I think I'm going to do some work to move the site to github pages, nix the roundup tracker, put the project in indefinite sleep mode, update the docs in regards to all these things, and write a "farewell" blog post. It'd be really super if people who migrated their blogs over to Pyblosxom alternatives sent an email to the pyblosxom-users/pyblosxom-devel lists about their experiences switching. That'll help others migrate, too. Thank you all for the many years of Pyblosxom-hood! I wish all well! /will |

We're discussing the future of Pyblosxom on the pyblosxom-devel list right now. If you want to join the discussion, please do so there--not here. The gist of it is that I'm stepping down as maintainer of Pyblosxom. Either someone will offer to continue maintaining Pyblosxom and I'll help transition to that new person, or Pyblosxom will end as a project. One of the things we're discussing on the pyblosxom-devel list is alternatives should we decide to end Pyblosxom. The following have been mentioned so far--I don't know if they're all Python-based: * volt * octopress * nanoc * django-articles * hyde * nikola I blogged about it yesterday, too: http://bluesock.org/~willg/blog/dev/pyblosxom/me.html Blake asked what I plan on moving my blog to. I don't know, yet. volt looks interesting so far, but I haven't spent any time with it. That's it! If you're interesting in discussing things, I encourage you to join the pyblosxom-devel list. I'll update this list if anything substantive gets figured out in a couple of weeks. /will |

I changed the download section, so it doesn't require maintenance going forward. I did that in March, but either I forgot to push the changes or the site didn't update or something. I'm not entirely sure what happened. /will On 06/08/2012 11:34 PM, Janis Kracht wrote: > > And still is not updated.. If you're using Pyblosxom 1.5, then it comes with a tags plugin and it's pretty straight forward to set up. Documentation is here: http://pyblosxom.bluesock.org/1.5/plugins/tags.html Regarding the "pyblosxom users" link, that gets generated by a pylist plugin that's in the pyblosxom-web repository. I think that plugin is broken. I don't feel like fixing it, so instead I commented out the link. I pushed that change to the site. /will On 06/08/2012 08:51 AM, Joseph Reagle wrote: > > I've had deploying tag support on my todo list for a long time, but I'm > not sure how involved it is. Well, tags worked with an earlier version of pyblosxom I used.. but I don't use tags any more.. And... is pyblosxom-1.5rc3.tar.gz on the main page the _latest_ version? I don't think it is :( Take care, Janis |

Hi all, When I want to share something on my Pyblosxom blog, I link to it directly from the title. See http://www.benmont.com/tech/trello.html for an example. That creates a problem when using the yeararchives plugin. When an entry contains a link in the title, the archive link provided for that entry is to the external page rather than the entry itself. That makes it such that there's no way via navigation to get to older entries that have links in titles. See http://www.benmont.com/2012/index.html and click on 'Trello' to see what I mean. I looked at the yeararchives plugin to try and fix this for my use case, but I'm not familiar enough with the code to know how to fix it. Any recommendations? Huge thanks to the folks that have worked on Pyblosxom; it's a great platform. I'm using static rendering and hosting with Amazon S3. Thanks, Michael |

Ok, that explains it. I thought it is something like buildout, that is used to deploy production version of a site. 2012/1/22 Will Kahn-Greene <wi...@bl...> > > I think I only encourage it for running Pyblosxom locally for > testing/development: > > http://pyblosxom.bluesock.org/**1.5/install.html#deploying<http://pyblosxom.bluesock.org/1.5/install.html#deploying> > > > Other frameworks come with a built-in server. I think I only encourage it for running Pyblosxom locally for testing/development: http://pyblosxom.bluesock.org/1.5/install.html#deploying Other frameworks come with a built-in server. Maybe Pybloxsom should gain something like this: pyblosxom-cmd runserver [-h host] [-p port] If Pyblosxom had something like that, I'd probably remove all the paster-related documentation. /will On Sun, 22 Jan 2012, Daniel Oźminkowski wrote: > > I can see that this is some kind of "encouraged" way to host a pyblosxom > site. I can see that this is some kind of "encouraged" way to host a pyblosxom site. I am a noobie and can not find out why. I looked at the feature page of Paste, but I don't realize why it's useful. Can someone clarify this issue? |

Cool. I’m using lighttpd successfully so if you have any issues perhaps I can help. S |

I just joined the list after installing pyblosxom. This is my website: http://www.yelonek.tk/, but it's not in English anyway. ;) It's still work in progress. My configuration includes lighttpd. I wrote a tutorial how to perform this kind of configuration so you can include it on your website. I have never used github before, but I managed to issue a pull request, so willkg, please check it out. Cheers, Daniel |

Hello, Just upgrading to 1.5. Pycategories has these lines in its code: ,---- | import logging | logging.basicConfig() | logging.info("indent %s %s", indent, itemlist) | print "indent ", indent, itemlist `---- … and so I get a lot of spam outputted before the Content-type. I’ve commented out the print line and now I don’t get it. Surely this shouldn’t happen, or have I missed a setting? Thanks. S |
