Python-AD

Again, this project will be terminated soon...

A project with very similar goals can be found at http://www.boskant.nl/trac/python-ad/

Nearing the end...

As is likely apparent, little has happened to this project in the last year. I no longer have access to an Active Directory server, and other commitments have lowered the priority of continued development on PyADtools.

If you want to see development continue, I would welcome volunteer developers or project managers. Otherwise, I will likely remove the project in the next year. Thanks to all who have shown interest.

Minor correction

I just changed the version numbers, so they actually reflect the kind of progress pyADtools has made. My apologies for being a software release newbie. pyADtools 0.1.2 is current.

Documentation Wiki

The documentation wiki is up and running. Pages are slowly being added. Check out http://pyadtools.sourceforge.net/wiki/PythonActiveDirectory as a starting place for research on Python and Active Directory. You may also be interested in http://pyadtools.sourceforge.net/wiki/CategoryDomainConfig where you will find the sparse but evolving info about setting up a domain controller for LDAP access.

Work in progress

Please bear with us as pyADtools is still in its infant stages. Coming soon: a documentation wiki and continuing updates to pyADtools, including a high-level interface similar to dsadd, dsmod, etc. Future updates will also include support for python-ldap, which will allow users to access Active Directory from any platform on which Python and OpenLDAP are available. If anyone is interested in helping, please make it known.

First significant release

PyADtools 0.1.1 was posted September 25, 2006. This is the first working release, but it is still alpha quality, at best. Use at your own risk. Testers welcome!
