I should probably put this in the documentation, but you can try this
approach:

cd $HOME
mkdir -p tutorial/py4j/examples
cd tutorial
# copy the py4j.jar here
# copy Stack.java to py4j/examples
# copy StackEntryPoint.java to py4j/examples
# you are still in ~/tutorial
javac -cp py4j.jar py4j/*/*.java
# you should see .class files now in py4j/examples
# you are still in ~/tutorial
java -cp py4j.jar:. py4j.examples.StackEntryPoint
