thanks for that - copying wxmsw26uh_vc.dll to the sys32 folder seems to
have cured that error but a new error appears every time I correct the old
error. I now have a whole bunch of includes, excludes etc in my setup.py
which, frankly, I have no idea what they do but which seemed like a good
idea based on reading other people's files ... but I still can't get the
exe file to run!! Any chance I could have a peek at your setup.py ?!!

I'm definitly not the one who can give professional advice. I have just
started to explore matplotlib and wxmpl. So no usefull
code has been produced until now.
But nevertheless after poking around a bit I was able to get my simple
demo compiled with py2exe. Don't take it too seriously, it is quick and
dirty. Specially the dll-excludes: It was just try and error compiling
to exclude everything py2exe can't find.
environment: XP Sp2, python 2.5, wxpyhton 22.214.171.124,
matplotlib-0.87.6.win32-py2.5 , py2exe-0.6.5.win32-py2.5, wxmpl-1.2.8
