What's the problem with compiling it with MinGW? Why should it be
slower? (I'm asking out of ignorance, don't know anything about the
different c compilers)
If you py2exe'd a program running there, would the distribution size change?
If you Google around, there's a source patch that should -in theory-
help you build python 2.4.1 with MinGW without any changes.
