#102 PIL fontfiles reported missing when present

I am running Python 2.5 and py2exe 0.3.3. When I try to compile the application PIL tells me I'm missing the font files. I put them in the folder recommended on the website, as well as in the .zip (later) and neither worked, it produces the same error.
