#1 searching by coordinates

I miss some API to find nearest street or place by giving latitude/longitude coordinates. There seem to be some way to do this in google maps web interface, so maybe there is similar thing in their API:

Note that converting lat/lng to address and then looking by address makes no sense because conversion to address gives me only country name in many cases.
