Sorry for the slow reply - if you haven't got it already, you need to uncheck lock sessions on the context menu on the tree view. Then you can add folders, and drag and drop sessions into those folders.

It's not just a matter of unchecking the Locked Sessions.
It is the utterly backwards and unintuitative way that folders are created.
1. You can not create a new folder at the root/Sessions folder level.
2. If you create a new folder with an existing folder currently selected, it creates a new folder and makes the selected folder a child of the new folder. Totally backwards.
I find this behaviour to be the single most annoything 'feature' of the app.
And this is only magnified by the fact that I do it rarely, so I get bitten every time.
So, for the benefit of others, select putty session (not a folder), uncheck the Locked Sessions, then select New Folder.
The folder will be created with the previously selected putty session in it.
If you need nested folders, then drag to the appropriate location.
Or, use regedit directly.

I agree that folder creation is totally uninitutive.
The above described behavior has not changed in Version 0.50.189.0.
It would make a difference to improve folder creation!
Thanks for this very nice piece of software anyway!
