Ok, that should be fixed now. Could you please give it a go? I tested it
as good as I can simulate it on a 32 bit system, but of course there may
still be some other alignment issues waiting to be discovered. ;-)

Please note that the latest regression, #7, will still fail if you run
'make check', that's the next one on my TODO list. :)
