Sorry everyone about my rather unnecessary last message, I thought it was going just to Eddie.

I did find and install the various missing libraries now, including some that Eddie did not mention, like
"ltdl-dev". I now have Pure up and running on my Ubuntu AMD-64! So the fun begins later today with some testing.

In the end I only had one compilation warning about an unsafe cast of a pointer.
Albert, if you are interested, I can reproduce it after I had some sleep.
It may have something to do with the 64bit architecture.
