Using writesf~, I am unable to write aiff files to disk that aren't empty or invalid. wav works perfectly. (Please see attached patch.)

Also it seems that with aiff files the user must specify the extension when defining the filename. For wav files this is given automatically. Doesn't seem very consistent.

    this is on os x 10.7.5 using pd vanilla 0.45.3.

    Your patch works fine for me on 10.6.8 and Pd-extended 0.43.4

    Here no problem creating 16 and 24 bit fixed point AIFF files with your patch. The floating point format is not supported for AIFF. From the source:

    pd_error(obj, "AIFF floating-point file format unavailable");

    This is Pd Version 0.44.0-extended-20130808, Kubuntu 12.04 LTS. Tested the files with Audacity.
