The attached patch adds basic support for the Samsung
ML-1250/ML-250
printers. It may or may not work with other Samsung models.
I /think/ I've got kernel readback support enabled, but
this doesn't seem to
be an option with the 2.4.18 kernel??
Normally, reading from /dev/lp0 gives nothing. If I send
[uel]@PJL INFO PRINTER = ALL[cr]
[uel]
then I can read 241 bytes from /dev/lp0. No EOF appears
to be sent. I've
attached a couple of examples of the data read - one
with 600dpi set, the
other with 300dpi set (I can't remember which way round
now!). I suspect
this isn't the normal way that PCL printers describe
their settings to their
host, but it's what I suspect the Samsung 'dosrcp.exe'
tool uses. ;-)
Thanks for writing a neat framework for me to pin this
stuff on. ;-)
