I am using Punjab with JWChat, to connect to a Wildfire
Jabber server.

Wildfire disconnects a Punjab/JWChat client after about
30 minutes inactivity (whether using HTTP Binding or
HTTP polling); but it does not disconnect a
"traditional" Jabber client such as Gaim or Kopete.

Using Tcpdump I have found that every 55 seconds the
Kopete client sends a TCP packet whose data content is
a single byte (0x0a, i.e. linefeed) to keep the
connection alive. When the client is JWChat, there is
keep-alive traffic between JWChat and Punjab, even in
HTTP-Binding mode, but Punjab does not send anything to
the Jabber server. The server kills the connection
after about 30 minutes.
