    Hello,

At http://www.bombich.com/mactips/image.html there's a FAQ discussing what you MUST have in a copy/backup/clone utility in order for the copy to be complete (and bootable if it's a copy of the system drive).

    Does PsyncX qualify?

    The FAQ includes these criteria:

    1. File permissions must be preserved.

    2. The invisible Unix system files must be copied.

    3. Unix-style links must be preserved.

    4. Some directories are populated by the System after booting, and are thus unnecessary to preserve; however, although empty, they may still have to be present.

    5. Resource forks must be preserved.

    Thanks!

Yes, PsyncX does all of those items.  Mike's CCC has the option to turn all of that stuff off, but the actual psync untility does everything for you automatically.

What about Finder flags, creation dates, etc? Those aren't in the resource fork OR the UNIX attributes!

No, Finder attributes are stored in a resource fork and as far as I can tell psync (the command-line utility) backs them up.
