[Psidev-ms-dev] Proposed mzOntology Changes

Hi all,

A Recommendation for PSI Controlled Vocabularies has been drafted by Luisa and 
there are a few things that would need to be changed in the mzOntology to fully 
comply with the Recommendation. One change is in the hierarchy so that it 
includes 'abstract' terms, e.g. Analyzer Description, to simplify the mapping 
from the XML schema to the ontology. As I understand this type of change will 
not negatively effect usage. Is that correct?

Another change that has been proposed is to change the namespace from 
"default_namespace" to "PSI-MS". Does anyone see problems with this change?

It was also mentioned that the term identifier should be changed from 
PSI:0000000 to MS:0000000, however since that change will break existing 
code this recommendation will not be implemented in the upcoming version 
of the mzOntology. As work progresses with the merger of mzData and mzXML, 
this proposed change will be re-examined.
