Are there any real benefits to getting the new PS2 Network bundle over the older version? For those of you that are unaware, Sony released a newer version of the PS2 that comes bundled with the network adapter, and verious improvements like a better laser that is more durable and can read different DVD media, quieter fans, and built-in IR so the DVD remote doesn't need a clunky thing plugged into a memory slot. With the new system you can turn the system on and off with the remote, as well as open the CD tray. One thing they removed in the new version is the Firewire port, so you can no longer hook up the PS2 to another one. What I want to know is if anybody has any experience with both, and if the newer one is worth getting. Is the newer one any harder to modify with mod-chips or installing linux on? What kind of drawbacks are there to getting the new one over the older versions? The reason I ask is because I have an older version still brand new in the box that I could sell if I wanted the new network bundle. I just got really busy with school and didn't have the time to do any fun stuff, although I did find a LITTLE time to play some Desert Combat Thanks, Scott __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
