I came to this mailing list trying to see if anyone was working on a Debian distribution for the PS/2, and noticed it was mentioned in a few places, but there's not much there... How's that going? Also, how is the Linux2.4 port for PS/2 going? Does anyone on this list know of a library to use the PS/2's MPEG-2 decoding hardware that doesn't involve using assembly language? Flicking through the PS/2 Linux Kit's docs, I didn't see anything higher level than the Assembly instruction to decode data from a FIFO to memory. If this code doesn't exist, then I'm considering writing a Video4Linux2 Codec device module to use the MPEG-2 decoder... Of course, for this I need (Or would at least prefer) Linux2.4. And a cross-compilation environment (Debian either i386 or PPC). I'm happy to build Debian/PS2 packages here, so I'm not too worried if packages aren't being built. I'm more interested in knowing the status of the basic packages needed to build other packages (dpkg, gcc, binutils, a kernel, and of course a full base_install tar.gz I can concoct a way of slipping onto the PS/2 to replace the ?Redhat? derivative they're using now. And I might be able to offer some space for hosting built PS/2 .debs when it comes to that. --=20 ----------------------------------------------------------- Paul "TBBle" Hampson, MCSE 5th year CompSci/Asian Studies student, ANU The Boss, Bubblesworth Pty Ltd (ABN: 51 095 284 361) Pau...@An...
