John-- I strongly suggest you wait until Sony releases the US PS2 Linux. It comes with online documentation explaining every programmable componenets in PS2, CPU, VPU, MPU, Controller ports, Controllers, demo programs with source codes, etc. I do currently running a linux on my PS2 and that's how I know. I've been hearing that US linux will be release very soon.
