Ok, lets get loud until we need a moderator. I would like to introduce myself. My name is John Thornton I'm a unemployed network administrator by day and a small independent magazine called Hacker's Digest by night. I'm in the U.S.A. If you are reading this email let me know and tell me where you are from. I have one goal as of now, to have Linux on my ps2. Why? So I can exploit it. Sony is a huge supporter of the DMCA and I want to do anything to hack my ps2. So my first question is, where do I get started. The information on getting this going is just about null. I found this site by luck and I can see why its so damn quite. It seems to me getting Linux running on a ps2 in the U.S.A. is really on hold if/until Sony feels like it. So if anyone is reading this, take the time out and go to. http://www.ps2linux.scea.com/interest_form.shtml And http://www.fakeroot.net/ps2linux/index.php3.en - Petition for the public Release of Linux for the PlayStation2 - Til reach to 10,000 - the total number of signatures is now 8,940, only 1,060 remained til 10,000. One of the other sites I have run across is http://www.runix.ru/pages_en/Downloads/Our_collection/. They have a "Linux kernel for Playstation 2 alpha 1 - Archive Linux kernel for Playstation 2 alpha 1. (Added: 30-Oct-2001 Hits: 1047 Rating: 5.46 Votes: 13) Rate It ". Has anyone gotten Linux to run this way? >The tools that have been developed > by prominent list members allow a PC USB link to a PS2 to be > used for program download and debugging - a HUGE step > forward from the compile-burn-repeat cycle developed before > by those same people;) Where can I find information on this? I seem to come up with nothing on google, has this been done in Japan? or some where else. John Thornton - jth...@ha...
