The IOP stands for "I/O Processor" - it's the same CPU used in the original PSX and is used in the PS2 for "coordinating" actions between perhiperals, etc. as well as providing backwards compatibility with the PSX. The EE is the MIPS R5900 core and related coprocessors. M. R. |
