[Proxool-developer] What's so unique about Proxool

Hi all,

We've had a documentation "bug" since November (#644080). It says:

"I tried to figure out what the smart thing about 
proxool is, except for providing a pool for a 
non-pooled driver."

Can anyone help me out here? I think Proxool is very stable and robust
but it's hard to measure that quantatively against other pools.

We do have an API that allows you to monitor the performance of the
pool; even timing each transaction if that's what you want.

And with the new MonitorServlet you can get access to that information
very easily.

Is there anything else we should be shouting about? How about ease of
configuration?

1. Proxool's liberal license (Apache) allows free commercial and 
non-commercial distribution, so it serves all ISV business models.
2. Proxool is a true wrapper driver, which implies that it a) protects 
previous investments in JDBC drivers and b) ensures compatibility with 
the J2SE API.

We can provide an objective performance benchmark when the J2EE CTS 
passes. Al is ill at the moment, I hope he can provide us with more 
details on this later this week.
