Well...  you could shutdown each pool individually. But I agree that
that is a bit cumbersome. I only mention it as a possible solution.

Absolutely. It might even make us unique? The question is, how to
combine the ease of use of the XML configurators and potentially useful
things like statistics whilst still retaining transparency?

Is it one or the other? You either have a transparent pool with no
advanced stuff, or you make a dependency on Proxool and get to use all
the "bells and whistles". I mean, we should cater for both scenarios and
leave it up to the user to choose.
