I'm sorry, I can't help you as much as I'd like :( You can find the latest code on Github (here). I say "latest" but it hasn't been updated since 2011 (apart from doc changes).
The exception you show there contains the message:
"Couldn't perform the operation getAutoCommit: You can't perform any operations on this connection. It has been automatically closed by Proxool for some reason (see logs)".
Have you got access to the logs? Maybe there's some more information in there?
