ProtoView is an open-source Windows application designed to extract precise angle measurements from images and applications. Developed in Python with PySide6, it generates a transparent, frameless window that overlays on your screen, allowing you to interactively measure the angle between any two lines. Even those with dissimilar vertices.

Features

  • 1. Interactive, Dual Vertex Angle Measurement: Four main points let you measure the angle between two lines without having to share a common vertex.
  • 2. Drag and Drop Points: Points 1 & 3 are “origins” with crosshair markers that act as vertexes. Points 2 & 4 are the measurement points that you place relative to the origins to define your rays.
  • 3. Reset Function: Automatically Repositions all the points back into their initial orientation (45° offsets).
  • 4. Resizable Window: Click the + or – buttons to resize the window in increments.
  • 5. Screenshot Capture: Captures the current layout and saves it as a PNG with a timestamp-based filename in the applications directory.
  • 6. Floating, Frameless Window: Draggable by the custom title bar. Transparent background to overlay on top of other applications.
  • 7. ESC-to-Exit: Convenience keyboard shortcut to close the application.
  • 8. Touch Screen Compatible: Works with tablets and touch screen devices.
  • 9. ProtoView and PySide6 are open source and released under the MIT License.
