#114 itemize or itemstep leads to failure

I have no problem on my aging Redhat7 machine but on
this SuSE Linux 9.2 (x86-64) I have a serious problem
in that itemstep does not work. I get an error saying

! LaTeX Error: \begin{itemize} on input line 224 ended
by \end{raggedright}.

Same happens for itemstep. It means that propser is
for the moment unusable to prepare presentations.
