Hi ppl what's up, hey no one is active anymore or what?? I thought we are gona make something here!! All coders get back up here on forum and get yourself Cg from developer.nvidia.com. Get Nebula engine from it's link and work with it. We will not be doing much in Cg since Nebula and Cg are not very compatible but we can do some features with it and OpenGL. We will be using OpenGL so learn it good, i am doing just the same. Since we have OpenGL with Cg in some features and Nebula with OpenGL else i don't think we'll be needing SDL, but that doesn't mean you have to forget all you know about it or stop learning it, maybe we'll use it if we'll discover that is easier usable in some features than OpenGL. I don't know what is the word with artists and writers but could leaders please ask your ppl to get creative again. Jenny i sent you Maya 4.0, Adobe PhotoShop 6.0, Adobe Illustrator v10, 3DStudioMax 4.0, but as you see post between Europe and USA is not the best, so all i can say is you'll get it eventually. Kim what's up with you mate, holidays? Hey you talked about having DirectX 9.0 SDK? The MSN Discussion will be held this Sunday from 15:00CET till 18:00CET. It may be extended for another two hours if wanted. Try to get online around this hour and participate in our first large discussion. These are the questions that will be asked: it is VERY important that you prepare them!!! ENGINE - Would an engine seriously decrease the development time? - What would be the requirements for such an engine? - What engines could suite these requirements? - Would a pure OpenGL-development save time? - Will a certain number of programmers extend and update the engine? NAME - What do we expect from the new name? GAME - Mission-based gameplay. What are the first ideas for missions? - Combat rules. How will the player witness war and how will the game do the calculations? - Equipment stats. What values determine the power of produced items? - Do we use the real universe as environment for the game? - How big is the environment in the game? (How many solar systems can the user visit?) MODELS - What format should the models be in? SOUND - What music do we use in the game? (genre + track or dynamic) - Where can we find good songs for free? (groups, artists...) RESEARCH - What will be the method of technological research? (e.g. tech tree) !!!PREPARE THESE QUESTIONS!!! |

ok, this message is in reply to aleps and PRE, but read it if you want to. - It is possible to have multiple mailing lists, but i have to say that I'm a bit against it. Mailing lists are well ordened, and this allows users to just read the things that they know are important for them. I belive that it isn't a good idea to split up the communication too much. We are a team, working together after all. But I'm willing to arrange this in the fure when it really starts flooding our mail boxes :D - It is not possible to do what you ask santos. Well, I can attend the reunion, but maybe only for an hour or so, because I have an exam nest day :) About the the day per week reunion, in school I can not access IRC or MSN, and when I get home I think you guys are sleeping :), so I could only be available at weekends. The groups mailing list is also a good issue... (edit) kvaruni, when I replied the mail was going to alesp, could you change that do that the replies fo straight to the list? Hi all, this mail is primarily meant for coder team and Kim, so for anyone to whom it may not concern can easily delete it and i apologize for all inconveniences. You can choose to read it as well. Now when the project ("unnamed yet") has started for real i would like to encourage you to post as much useful stuff in forums regarding 3D engines, OpenGL development and library use as you can, and also i would invite all of you to join the chat about this project on MSN on June 2nd from around 13:00 CET till 20:00 CET. The time is of course changeable if a lot of you can't make it then (just so none can say she/he didn't knew it CET = GMT+1). I didn't attain any discussions on MSN before that one, cause i was busy with other stuff and didn't had time. So from no on it would be great if we could set the time for a day or maybe even two in a week to discuss coding of this project. My time is rather flexible (8:00 CET till 22:00 CET weekdays, 10:00 CET - 24:00 CET weekends), so all we need is your confirmation on time, when you can make it. If you won't attend all chats on MSN, you simply won't, but it will make work a bit harder if won't know what are you doing (cause maybe someone has already a solution for your problem but you couldn't discuss it with others). So i ask you to be on as much as you can and to share opinions, experiences and knowledge with others, because that's the way we'll be able to work fastest with best efficiency. Ok that was for introduction about work, hope i didn't bullshit too much in there. Well let us return to our Task #0 from Pedro. All of you who haven't done anything yet, i would ask to do it soon and send it to Pedro. All of us (me included), who haven't done the SDL application yet would be also great if we could make one soon so we all get acquainted with SDL and OpenGL. I will try and make one ASAP, would ask of you the same. A couple of discussions on MSN are coming up. A large number of topics = will be discussed on these chat sessions. The more that can be online, = the better. The discussions will have to be held between 13:00 CET and 20:00 CET = because I want to be present and this is the only timewindow for me to = come online. A couple of changes and important news (please read!) 1. Activity Log 2. Crew Pages 3. Mailing List - Use It 4. MSN 1. I'm going to put online an activity log. It is based on a couple of criteria, currenlty activity, MSN and mailing list. Activity is based on whether or not I've seen you active on the forum. MSN is whether or not you have MSN installed and mailing list is wheter or not you are subscribed to the mailing list. Some members seem to be doing very well, with a score of 3/3. Thanks for that! But some have 0/3 and these are at the verge of being deleted from the forum. 2. I still need some descriptions from people to add to the crew pages. http://www.efrance.fr/testzone/crew.asp You are free to come up with such a description yourself. Please do so, and mail it to me (or use an instant message on the forum) 3. Everyone can tell things on this mailing list. all oyu have to do is mail to the right email address. If you have something important to announce (you're pregnant) or you want to be sure that something gets read by everyone, then go ahead! 4. A large amount of us are gathering on MSN, so to those who haven't yet ojined us, could you please do so? Under windows, all you have to do is install MSN Messenger. under Linux, you could use programs like EveryBuddy or Imici. |
