My interest in games is all but gone at this point.
At best, ProjectRPG is a shining example of how not to write an RPG, with a basic demonstration of how to move sprites around in 2D space.
Any future OSS projects I do would likely end up on my website, mkronline.com, but my interest in development is pretty much limited to writing shell scripts to do stuff I need done.
You can consider this project dead. From what I understand, sourceforge keeps projects indefinately, so this will probably be here for quite some time.
If you're interested in what i'm doing now(which i doubt), you can find me at http://www.mkronline.com .
Any future projects i do will be closed source.
ProjectRPG is now re-opened. Instead of developing an all-out RPG, it'll be a basic RPG engine, with level loading functions, stuff like that. It'll be like RPG maker, but with ALOT more control.
Watch out for more news soon.
I'm going to start working on a C++ version of projectrpg, but at least for a while, it'll be closed source. The version on this site will remain, of course. The reason it will be closed source is, if you can just look at the code for an RPG, then you know where to go and such, which takes the fun out of the game.
Have you noticed the multi-monthed gap in updates? Well, i've been doing other stuff, i've gotten into rom hacking, and it takes up alot of my free time, i may just hand over the project to kaboofa, but he's pretty tied up himself. The project probably isn't dead, just on hold.
I'm trying to think of what to do with projectrpg, the current game engine is pretty worthless, it has perfect acuracy on collision detection, but it's bulky, 5 or 6 lines for one thing. I may re-do projectrpg in VB, or in another language, perhaps a text based version in perl or PHP. Perl would be more likely, since i'm better at that, more info later.
Currently ProjectRPG is a mess, so, i've decided a complete rewrite is needed, i'm going to do what i can to get this rewrite done quick, but i don't want to rush, rushing leads problems. I've had many people ask me why i don't do a C++ port of ProjectRPG, it's because i don't know enough to make anything useful, though i will probably port it once i get better at it.
Project RPG seems dead, haven't worked on it much. I'll try and get some work done on it soon.
I have been busy with other things lately, but i am trying to get work done on projectRPG.
Ok, i got the site up, http://projectrpg.sourceforge.net/. I need to clean up the code for the game, and format it properly, once i do i will make the source code available.
I'm still working on getting the site up, and getting everything configured, hopefully i will have it all set up today.
