Some shaders work extremely "colorful" when softcutting from one preset to another. e.g. try to softcut from any preset to one of Zylot's "In Death There Is Life" ones.
I make-installed last master branch (16.10.2012) from projectM's git onto my Ubuntu 12.04

Some shaders when softcutting fill the screen with white or another live color (e.g. "Geiss - Cosmic Dust 2 - Game of Life mix"). But hard cuts work properly.
