Dear team,
Thanks for a great product. I am using a brand-new
Tungsten E2 running OS5. When I try to do certain
actions in the tutorial database, I get the "Fatal Alert"
VFSDBCache.c, Line:4051, unattached record, and am
forced to do a soft reset. This does not happen in my
other database that I made today. It happens in a
number of occassions, such as attempting to close the
database to return to the selector, attempting to go to
the main palm screen from within the database, and
when I have tried to practice linking (Edit-->New Lnk--
>Memo or Address-->---. These are just the things that
have made it happen so far. It may also happen in other
instances that I am not aware of yet. I have had to reset
the Palm several times already just trying to do the
tutorial. Other commands do not seem to cause this to
happen. When I re-open Progect after the reset, my
other database is always open, not the tutorial.
I'd like to be able to keep the tutorial as a reference, but
I don't like having to reset my Palm every time I want to
look at it (it won't let me out without a reset!).
Thanks for your help!

This also happens to me using a Tungsten E2. But I have
not discovered how to open a new file. It always crashes
when I hit the Done button or when I select the Close from
the pulldown. It also crashes if the program is running
when Palm tries to time out. I guess thaat since I cannot
use Done then I will never get to the place where I can
start a new progect. Shame because it looks like a nice
    product otherwise.

I know this thread is a bit old - I have been experimenting with ProGect as a replacement for a similar product on my old E2 and TX. I use Ubuntu on the desktop, and could not get the English version of the tutorial to install (I use Gnome-Pilot). I did some digging and discovered that the English tutorial pdb lists 105 records in the header, and the French version lists only 104. From what I could tell, they should have the same number of records. The English version also listed the very last byte offset as the location of the last record in the record list (i.e. the byte offset is the same as the total number of bytes in the file). I altered the header of the English version of the pdb to show only 104 records (byte offset 77 in the file) and the pdb installed correctly. I'm not sure if this is related to the other tutorial problems but it could point to some issues with the integrity of the file (perhaps a French hacker ;-) ).
