These commands were created by adding the "X" in front of a few of the existing RFC-959 commands. There was a small thread about this question about a month ago & TJ explained the use of commands like XMKD... Apparently, some clients use these commands rather than the RFC-959 versions, so an RFC- compliant server needs to handle the "X" commands and equate them to their RFC-959 equivalents.
