I have loaded ProDT and SWI-prolog, and am using Eclipse Mars.2 on a Macbook Pro/Mavericks (10.9.5). The SWI-prolog interpreter is located at /Applications/SWI-Prolog.app/Contents/MacOS/swipl and I have loaded that into the Preferences/Prolog/interpreters configuration tool. When I start a console, prolog does come up, but after the initial welcome & help message the prompt is "|" (vertical line), not "?-" . If I simply type a period "." I get an error, and a prompt like this ":-" appears.

When I start swipl outside of Eclipse, it works just fine and I get the expected "?-" prompt.
I'm somewhat new to prolog - can anyone explain what to do to get to the "?-" prompt on startup under ProDT/Eclipse in a console? I've pasted a transcript below. Thanks, - Les

PS the examples on the ProDT site show prolog command completion happening in the console, but that is not working for me either...
