Dashboard v1.14 and previous versions

Unusually, I have > 10 tasks currently open and are not going to be completed in the next few days/week. So in order to provide a more realistic replan/forecast date, my coach has suggested temporarily completing these tasks to see the effect on these dates when the EV is earned. When I do this, my dates move out by a week or two depending on the actual hours over the planned hours for these tasks.

In order to temporarily close off these tasks, I have to copy the dashboard data, start up a new instance using the data copy. Open my task & schedule, and then navigate through the hierarchy of tasks to enter the completion date, which is automatically saved, then I check the resultant dates.

I would like an easier way of calculating the replan/forecast dates for work in progress tasks.

Good news - I believe that the special steps you are taking are actually unnecessary.

Those steps probably would be necessary for other TSP tools. However, the dashboard is already using a sophisticated calculation algorithm that takes in-progress work into account.

I recently found the time to document the calculation algorithms that the dashboard is using to calculate replan and forecast dates. You (and your coach) can take a look at this documentation by visiting:
    http://www.processdash.com/static/help/frame.html?TaskScheduleDates

Please have your coach take a look at those calculation algorithms, and let me know if you have any questions.
