Hello all, I am pondering what to do with colors. Clearly, the thing I did in the 0.7.8 release (removing the appropriate color wrappers when shipping out) was not the wisest choice: it helps somewhat with preview-latex, but it causes surprising effects when preview.sty is used standalone. So the question is how intrusive the colors from the Emacs window should turn out. If the document contains no color support, it is reasonable to press fore- and background colors onto the preview. But if they do? For example, if we are doing some prosper slides with some fancy color selection scheme, the previews should probably reflect that instead of trying to blend in with the text. Unless only small pieces of math are previewed instead of whole slides. Unfortunately, with color.sty loaded, there is little possibility of detecting an intentional vs a default black-on-white coloring scheme. Before trying to implement something definitely, what are your thoughts? One thing at least seems more or less clear: when we are tampering with the foreground color, we should try tampering with the background color in the same way. White-on-black Emacs users should, if feasible, not have to deal with black-on-black previews... -- David Kastrup, Kriemhildstr. 15, 44793 Bochum |
