I also know of a missionary who is collecting old hardware for a mission in Uganda He has a netbook and I have given him Ubuntu to load on it For those who want to know about the mission is of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa , This is the oldest African Church regards Nick |

Hi there I would like to thank all of you who came and made the Ubuntu1004 launch party a success. The conversation was good and the food was good. Just to add to the excitement , yesterday I had a bit of a disaster , I got the "black screen" , but this morning I recovered my laptop and have my Ubuntu working again. We should do the same thing again in October this time we will have more power points for all . regards Nick |

Hi there Today its 15 days to the launch of Ubuntu 10.04. we are trying to arrange a Launch Party in Pretoria at a venue we can agree on. I don't want to jump the gun so if someone is busy planning this please let me know post haste however if not we will look at this. If we get agreement from the various stakeholders and members , we are "thinking" of doing it again at "the* Karoo* Cattle and Land - restaurant in Irene (Pretoria)" will be the venue (as was two release parties ago) More details to follow regarding a launch Party in Pretoria after we get feedback from the steakholders and members of the 3 lists I have sent this message to. Please rsvp to Corrie Strydom or Walter Leibrand or me If we get agreement to have it again in Irene: -------------------------------------------------- I have spoken to the people at that restaurant and am prepared to make the arrangements , provide a WIFI hotspot and a Ethernet Network as well as a long mains cable for the laptops Just bring along you memory sticks , laptops and join us there This message is going to the following lists: GLUG PRETLUG UBUNTU-ZA If you see that it did not reach one of these lists Please do me a great favour and forward it to that list kind regards Nick |
