predatorwall 5.0, finally.

After some set backs because of changes to the code, predatorwall 5.0 is finally released. Major highlights for this change include a new dynamic port opening system, improved FreeBSD support, a new file layout and a handful of other small changes.

Also, for those of you wondering where the heck the CVS trees went, they moved out of sourceforge and onto the DCAF_Security server, CVSWeb is available at http://www.dcaf-security.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/ and generic CVS instructions will be provided on the site later.

More on CVS

Instead of commiting new, unstable, changes to the CURRENT branch, I'll commit them to the HEAD, meaning, if you track the 4.0 development process, please remove -r CURRENT from any checkout's. (if you've already checked out, remove the CVS/Tag file to work around this).

Edit: The CURRENT branch has been removed from the CVS repository, so, you can now only use STABLE and HEAD.

CVS updates, new branches.

Notice to all users using the CVS trees predwall3 and predwall4, these tree's have been obsoleted and the use of the main predwall tree along with the proper branch (STABLE or CURRENT) is recommended. Also, the way shown under the CVS page here is also obsoleted, you now need to use either -r STABLE or -r CURRENT. So user's following the predatorwall 4.0 development tree should use cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/predatorwall co -r CURRENT -P predwall instead of cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/predatorwall co -P predwall4. For users of the 3.X tree, replace CURRENT with STABLE.

Status update on predatorwall 4.0

At this time, work towards predatorwall 4.0 is progressing nicely. I already have an almost-complete implamentation of predatorwall on BSD systems which support PF (Anything spawned from FreeBSD, NetBSD, DragonFlyBSD or of course, OpenBSD supports PF, at least these days.), some notable linux improvements will include a number of sanity check improvements, Ping Of Death protection added to the FLOODPROT rules, some other minor improvements and a number of documentation and cleanup changes.
