Any chance to implement direct aiming?

Hi again,
is there any chance that direct aiming, i.e. mouselook with disabled autoaim and shooting in the exact direction the player is viewing, will ever get implemented in prboom-plus? I.e. do you think it would make sense to start working on a patch or will this be considered too much away from Vanila Doom and thus get rejected right away?
Do you think prboom really need it? It will be one more thing which we can't use during demo recording/plaback.
It would make prboom-plus a more "complete" advanced source port. Currently, it is the onl port with advanced features that still lets you play Doom exactly as with DOOM.EXE. However, it is still missing a few extra features that ports like Doomsday or ZDoom offer, which in turn have developed far away from the original engine.
