I've tried the Sarge instructions and it didn't connect.

Configuring the PPTP client as for Debian Sarge and later the following
line in is logged in /var/log/ppp-connect-errors
"anon fatal[get_ip_address:pptp.c:437]: getaddrinfo(): Name or service
not known"

This log entry appears any time the networking service is started.
