I've no plans to support binding on IPv6 addresses. Looking for reasons for inaction seems like a recipe for advocacy, so instead I'll ask why would anybody want this feature ... what is the use case? The best I can think of is a community that wants to say it uses IPv6 that still has some people using PPTP because it requires only a single password and is already available in a chosen operating system. The security problems with PPTP are severe enough that I wouldn't want to encourage anybody shooting themselves in the foot. I won't stop them though; that's their freedom. The main reasons that IPv6 support doesn't exist in PPTP is that nobody has added it, and there is no standard. The RFCs are IPv4 only. In the absence of a standard, are there any other implementations? It is hard to see how an implementation that works only against itself would have any value over OpenVPN or other tunnel implementations. Once IPv6 is in fully use many of the reasons for a tunnel are removed. Those that remain can be satisfied with other technologies. -- James Cameron http://quozl.linux.org.au/ |
