I'm just writing to say thanks for providing OpenSource
support for your powerline networking gizmo, Intelogis!
(or is it Inari now?)
I picked up this Passport Plug-In Network on
clearance at OfficeMax, pretty much expecting
to return it because it would be flakey or
not work with my linux box, which I use
to connect my home machines to the outside
world, via DSL.
But lo and behold, an "Open Source" link from
http://www.inari.com/prod_data.html
to
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pport1/
So I grabbed the 0.91 release:
2000-May-04 09:56
http://download.sourceforge.net/pport1/pport1-0.91.tar.gz
and after two glitches* (neither of which was a problem
with your hardware nor software) I am now up and running with
connectivity between my linux box and a windows
box.
I haven't been this pleasantly surprised by a
consumer PC hardware product in a long time.
*glitch 1:
|In file included from main.c:34:
|/usr/include/linux/module.h:19: linux/modversions.h: No such file or
directory
workaround, at least on this debian box:
make INC1=/usr/src/kernel-headers-2.2.17/include/
in the pportlpt and pportsrv directories.
glitch 2:
|/lib/modules/misc/pportlpt.o: init_module: Device or resource busy
|Hint: this error can be caused by incorrect module parameters,
including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
fix: don't try to load the module before you
hook up the hardware. (duh!)
