ppcPodcast Beta-2 Version Released

ppcPodcast is podcast client for mobile devices; specifically Windows CE devices (including Pocket PCs and Smart Phones). The software allows the user to subscribe to RSS feeds containing enclosure URLs. The RSS episodes can be updated at will, and enclosures of any type can be downloaded. Enclosure downloads are spawned in separate threads to allow multiple simultaneous downloads. Once downloaded, a "play" option allows the user to launch the enclosure media using whatever application is associated with that particular file type. The client also allows the user to view the properties of subscriptions and episodes, including descriptions and the ability to open episode show notes and subscription links. The add subscription window shows the top podcasts as retrieved from podcastalley.com and podcastpickle.com, and a category tree retrieved from ipodder.org. The application also contains an options window for choosing an enclosure storage directory and various preferences regarding when (or if) the application will delete media automatically. The focus for this application is on stability, a clean, simple interface, and compatibility with various RSS and category formats.

ppcPodcast project is active

ppcPodcast binaries are now available, and the software is fully functional. Source code is also available in the Sourceforge CVS repository. Note that the CVS repository contains two copies of the source code. The one in the lower directory level (cvs\ppcpodcast\) is the active copy. I will be contacting Sourceforge shortly to have the extra directory removed.
