powNews v0.8 is already being developed and will be all class based in an effort to standardise code approach across several projects of mine. This should be the last release with only flat file support, with v0.9 supporting the use of databases through PEAR:DB, which supports several common databases, such as MySQL, Postgree and Oracle, among others.

This release see an effort to cleanup code, make the whole installation dependent on only one configuration file and the ability to use diferent languages. All pages displayed are now done through templates, making alteration of presentation extremely simpe. Several translations are included in this release and more will be added with each subsequent release. Enjoy!

I have been working on powNews this week and v0.7 is almost ready for release. I moved all the html over to templates using Smarty PHP templating engine, which makes the default look and style easily changeable to suit specific needs, and have made the whole thing internationalizable. The coding is all finished and checked into CVS. Currently waiting for several translations before making the next release, which will be v0.7

I have finally moved powNews over to its own project space at sourceforge. I have added all old releases to this project, releases 0.5 and 0.6
