In 1.0.0 gtm_ctl started the server by redirected stdout to the logfile. This is how pg_ctl starts postmaster, too. In 1.0.1 gtm received the "-l" option and thus gets started by using this option instead of the redirection, which is the very reason for the problem we see. I just patched gtm_ctl to redirect again and it works flawlessly in my original usecase.
