And you have the same notion with PG itself, you create 2 database servers
if you use a slave with a master, so I do not see your point,  and people
live and appreciate such a robust solution.. If you are so of using slaves,
you could also use archive files for a recovery, or take periodic dumps of
each Datanode if you do not want to lose data, then replay it on a new node
if necessary.
