#495 Is the Postgres-XC project active, or has it been replaced by Postgres-X2?

We run Postgres databases and are intersted in Postgres clustering features.

Is the Postgres-XC project active, or has it been replaced by Postgres-X2? I have read many pages, and I'm unclear if this project has gone stale, or if it's been officially deprecated in favor of another branch. Reading through the pages here doesn't provide any clear indication if XC has been replaced with X2:

The following page claims that Postgres-X2 is the sucessor to XC, but I cannot verify that independently. I want to make sure I'm not stepping into the middle of a fork-war or political battle.

If X2 is indeed the sucessor for XC, can you please update the documentation on the XC pages to make this clear? It would be good to reference some authoritative source showing that the transition to X2 has been embraced by the community.
